Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a counselling session last?
The individual counselling sessions are for 50 minutes and for couples the sessions last for 60 minutes.
How much does it cost?
Individual sessions are £40 and couples £50
Concessions are available in case of financial hardship - if that is the case with you please ask me about this. Particularly at this time NHS and Front line workers.
Is what I say to the counsellor confidential?
Yes I am bound by the BACP code of ethics so what is said in the counselling room stays in the counselling room!
How can I be sure you will help me?
No counsellor can guarantee a result, however many people find their lives are changed by counselling.
How many sessions should I have?
This does depend on you the client and what is troubling you. For some clients we start with 6 or 8 sessions and that is sufficient for them to feel recovered. And for others working 'open-ended' is more appropriate as they need support for a longer period of time.
If I undertake 'open-ended' when do I know when to end?
This usually becomes clear between the client and myself the counsellor but that is something to discuss with your counsellor and it is always important not to end your counselling abruptly.
What happens if I miss a session?
I ask you to give 24 hours notice if you want to cancel a session. If you do not give the 24 hours notice then I expect you to pay for the missed session.
